Your Personal Coach on the Green
Moritz Schuster is a true Styrian, born and raised in the picturesque Ausseerland region. He picked up a golf club for the first time at the tender age of five—his passion for golf was there from the very beginning.
Moritz got his first impression of the golf course at Pichlarn Castle when he was just 11 years old—and ever since then, he has remained closely connected to the course and its special atmosphere.
In addition to his professional training as a golf pro, he rounded out his skill set by earning a certification as a Mindfactor Coach. This allows him to combine technical precision with mental strength—a combination that makes his coaching particularly valuable.

Interview with PGA Head Pro Moritz Schuster
What fascinates you about golf?
Golf combines tranquility, precision, and the power of concentration. Every shot demands technique, feel, and mental strength all at once. Surrounded by nature, the sport becomes a moment of relaxation. And precisely because there’s always more to learn, golf remains fascinating throughout one’s life.
Which stages of your career have had the greatest impact on your work?
I’ve been able to take something wonderful away from every place I’ve visited. Above all, those golf courses in Austria with their alpine terrain are both challenging and varied. They require a wide range of shot techniques—which I, as a golf pro and coach, find incredibly exciting and appealing.
How would you describe your training philosophy?
Success in golf is the result of a combination of technique, focus, and fitness. Conscious practice is worth more than a thousand unfocused swings. Mental calm creates confidence—especially under pressure. Consistency comes from discipline and routine. The more you practice, the more “luck” you’ll have.
How does your training as a Mindfactor Coach help you?
My training as a Mindfactor Coach has been a real asset to my teaching approach. Golf isn’t just about technique—mental strength, focus, and composure in critical moments are often what determine success. I incorporate the Mindfactor methods into my training sessions, and they help players focus and concentrate on what really matters. This makes the training not only more effective but also more sustainable.
What’s your favorite hole on our course, and why?
Hole 5! It’s not just an interesting hole to play—above all, it offers a magnificent experience of nature. An incredible panoramic view with the entire golf course spread out before you, the pond, the castle, and the majestic Grimming mountain in the background—simply beautiful!
Which golfer inspires you the most?
Severiano Ballesteros! When I think of Severiano Ballesteros, it’s not just about his titles, but about the way he played golf. He showed that it’s not just about perfect technique, but about creativity, feel, and courage. From seemingly impossible situations, he found solutions that others wouldn’t even have seen. That’s exactly what inspires me: to go my own way, trust my instincts, and play the game with passion—especially when things get tough.
